Hi Greg, I wanted to request a character name and paid the subscription amount to do so. How do I get that information to you. The emails from substack.com are all noreply emails. Thanks for all you do!
I could sure relate to your story about Guddy! My Dad was diagnosed in 9/11 with brain cancer and was in heaven before Christmas of that year. My husband was very close to both my parents. He lost both of his parents by the time he was 24. We got married in 1976 at age 21 so he likes to say that MY parents were HIS parents longer than his OWN parents were. He was with my Dad when he passed and says he witnessed my Dad’s soul leave his body for heaven. Before he passed my husband made my Dad the same promise for my Mom. She lived with us for 4 years until she grew weary of being here without her husband of almost 60 years and seemed to give in to the COPD, diabetes and dementia. I was in tears reading your memories of Guddy in her younger days. Keep up the great job of giving us an insight into your and Jennifer’s lives! 👀😃👍🏼🙏🏼
I like the idea of one chapter from your book a week. With everything else coming in to my inbox, I feel like I can manage one chapter a week!
Maybe you’ve thought of this, but may I suggest you give Jennifer’s mom permission to die? Just talk to her and tell her if she is ready to go, her family understands, and they will be ok once she is gone. I did that with my dad, and I think it was helpful for both of us. Some people may think it’s morbid, but I feel like it’s a loving thing to do.
Interesting thoughts regarding Jennifer’s mom. I guess because she is still “somewhat” mobile (mostly being pushed in a wheelchair in recent weeks), and not bedridden (yet), it didn’t occur to us to say that to her. I guess we’re still hoping she can get back to racing up and down the hall like she was doing as recently as June of this year. I think the next few months will be telling.
And you are one of the very few to actually SEE the outside of the apartment building I referenced this week! Do you even remember me pulling into the parking lot across from it when we were both in Cincinnati that weekend?
great newsletter. i miss reading newsletters, but time.... sometimes it is easier to listen than read.
I like the idea of the weekly chapter for your novel. Again, time. If they come out too fast, I will get behind & then likely quit reading. Also, anticipation. It's fun to have something to look forward to. And to know that it won't be a time drain because I don't have 10 to catch up on.
Interesting note about talk radio. I never got into talk radio until I listened to you on SiriusXM. It was enjoyable listening to you. Now, I'm the parent driving kids around forcing them to listen to talk radio or podcasts. My children's music experience now comes from YouTube!
Good input on the novel. I guess I don’t want people to get discouraged with having to wait, but I like your perspective of the fun of anticipation. Good point. And are you Beth from Ohio, by chance? Or a different Beth? Either way, glad you’re here!
Great post. I’ve heard Bill Cunningham and he’s a favorite. Just haven’t found him on any of the Salem stations I listen to at night on IHeart. I’ll look up the station you mentioned! Thanks Greg!

Super enjoyed this (and the novel)! Can't wait for next week's edition.

I'm a different Beth from Louisiana. I'm a long time listener, but rarely interact.
Well, glad you’re here, either way!

Great hearing from you, Linda. I think WLW may be available on iHeart but I could be wrong. Hope all is well!
Leaving a comment to support you so it is more than just a heart. Can’t wait for chapter two.
Woo hoo!
